My personal philosophy of counseling centers around a willingness to enter into an individual or couple’s experience alongside them, and to give each the space needed to see them live as whole, healthy individuals. The counseling process is an opportunity for the client to explore their own thoughts and feelings in a safe environment as a unique individual, worthy of unconditional acceptance, regardless of their personal circumstances or struggles

I believe each person, couple, and family I work with can achieve comprehensive healing – physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual. Furthermore, I believe counseling can be a healthy pathway for growth and healing.

I have been in the counseling field for a total of 9 years, 5 of which were spent as a school counselor. I work with adolescents (ages 12YO+) and adults, as well as couples and families. My counseling focus and expertise lie in the areas of trauma, depression, anxiety, anger management, negative self-image, and relationship struggles.

My approach to counseling is based in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), as seen through the lens of Attachment Theory.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) aims to help people become aware of when they make unhealthy interpretations in communication and experiences, and the behavioral patterns which reinforce these unhealthy interpretations. CBT helps people develop healthy patterns of interpreting and behaving which in turn assist them in reducing their psychological distress.

Attachment theory is based on the premise that our earliest intimate relationships give us a model against which to evaluate and engage in all other relationships. The process of growth from this perspective is to discover and evaluate the learned model, engage in experiences that move the model toward greater health, and practice engaging with others based on this healthier model. The result is healthier, more honest, and more stable relationships.

A 16-year resident of Central Oregon, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, mountain/road/cyclocross cycling, XC skiing, and paddle boarding.
